When you hear the music of Tony Lyons, you might describe it as simultaneously “futuristic” and “nostalgic.” And, according to the Grammy-nominated Palermo brothers who produced Tony’s new album, both descriptions are accurate. While there’s a recognizable quality to Tony’s music, it’s delivered in a distinctly different way.
From his soulful tenor and lyrical style to his catchy hooks, Tony’s sound is as diverse as his musical influences. On his forthcoming album, you’ll hear him channeling the smoothness of Luther, the wildness of Freddie Mercury, and the confidence of Bruno Mars— all to the beat of his own keyboard
(and original lyrics).
The son of Jamaican parents, Tony wrote his first song at 14 in homage to his birthplace and the best NYC borough: The Bronx. Growing up there, he attended a performing arts middle school (shout-out to M.S. 180), where he was classically trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. College found him pursuing theatre at Farmingdale State College on Long Island before transferring to CUNY School of Professional Studies, where he earned his BS in Business Administration.
In pursuit of reaching triple-threat status—dancing, singing, and business—Tony wrote and recorded his first LP in 2017, which featured “Pegasus,” and then a series of singles in 2019. Live performances from NYC to London followed…until COVID-19 shut down live concerts. Like other artists, he spent the lockdowns writing, recording, and honing a new album that he can’t wait to share with his fans—especially in a live setting. Tony Lyons’ music is proof that rock ’n’ roll hasn’t left the building…and it quite possibly hails from Bronx.
In December of 2023, all the hard work paid off when Tony's debt album, " My Name is Tony" was released on ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS. Currently Tony is preparing a series of performances and more follow up music.
